The New York Daily News reports that although Derek Jeter said his left knee was fine last night, it's questionable whether he will be able to start tonight's game. "We'll see what it looks like (today)," Joe Torre said. Jeter was hit on his knee by a pitch in the seventh inning last night but remained in the game. Torre added that Jeter has been bothered bay a sore right instep, though Jeter said it was "nothing."

After missing three games with a bruised right thumb, Derek Jeter returned to the starting lineup Friday as the Yankees designated hitter, according to the AP. Jeter, who suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch on Sunday, still can't grip a ball well enough to play shortstop. "I'm not throwing as the DH, so it should be OK. It's pretty much a day-to-day thing. Hopefully, I'll be able to play (the field) tomorrow," Jeter said.

Although the Yankees haven't set a timetable for when Derek Jeter will return from his bruised right thumb, he rejected any chance of a trip to the disabled list, according to the New York Daily News. "Nooo," he said. "I just got hit by a pitch. It's not like something's broke." The digit remained swollen and in a wrap yesterday, and he was told not to take part in any baseball activity.
