As expected, Derek Jeter was held out of Sunday's game due to the stiff knee that forced him to exit Saturday's contest. "I don't like sitting down, that's the bottom line," Jeter said, according to the New York Daily News. "Whether it's now or at the beginning of the season, I don't like sitting down. I understand it, but I don't like it. (The injury) is not an issue." Barring a setback, Jeter should be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

Derek Jeter left Saturday's contest against the Royals in the fifth inning with knee stiffness, according to the AP. He's expected to get the day off on Sunday, as well. "Hopefully a couple of days off will do the job," Torre said. "It's been bothering him for a while. Today it looked like he couldn't move very well." Despite the day off, this injury doesn't appear serious. The Yankees are just being cautious.

Yankees manager Joe Torre said that Derek Jeter is "beat up." Jeter has been battling an aching shoulder since the end of July and was hit on his leg by a pitch Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News. "We'll look to get him a day (off)," Torre said. It's not clear when that will happen, but since he has just five hits in his last 25 at-bats, he could probably use a breather.

Derek Jeter was pulled from Saturday's game in the ninth inning. He's been dealing with some tendinitis in his right knee for a few days, though he said he was "fine," according to the New York Daily News. Barring an unexpected turn of events, Jeter should be in the lineup on Sunday.

Derek Jeter was a late scratch from Thursday's lineup due to a bruised left thigh, according to the AP. He'll still be available off the bench, so the injury isn't likely to keep him out of action very long. Miguel Cairo got the start at shortstop in Jeter's absence.

Derek Jeter was in the starting lineup Saturday, one day after fouling an Adam Loewen pitch off of his right foot, the Yankees official site reports. "It feels fine," said Jeter, who went 0-for-4 with a run Saturday. X-rays on the foot came back negative. "The good news is that it's not something where there's a strained muscle or something like that," manager Joe Torre said. "This is going to be pain, [and] it's not a matter of if it's something that's going to get worse."
