Even though Billy Wagner turned his ankle covering first base on the final play of Saturday's game, Wagner said that he was fine. He is expected to be available to pitch on Sunday.

The New York Daily News reports that Billy Wagner said his stiff middle finger responded surprisingly well to Saturday's outing, his first appearance in two weeks. "It's going to be sore off and on all year long," Wagner added. "It's a worry in the back of your head because it's happened and it's not a very treatable thing."

"This definitely feels like a big step forward. We'll see how it reacts (today)." He said even if he can't get into any more exhibition games, he expects to be available for opening day.

The New York Daily News reports that Billy Wagner will not pitch again until at least the weekend due to a stiff middle finger on his throwing hand. An MRI taken Monday revealed no structural damage. "It's not serious," Wagner said.

"I didn't feel like I could in good conscience go out and try to push myself to that next level in early March. I just have the worst spring trainings ever," Wagner said.
