Because of Monday's rainout, the Tim Wakefield will start Saturday's game against the Yankees instead of Sunday's game, according to the Boston Herald. He will also pitch the first game of today's doubleheader.

Tim Wakefield will have his next start bumped back to Friday in order to give his injured ankle time to heal. He suffered a contusion on his ankle after he was hit by a line drive in his last start.

Tim Wakefield has a deep contusion of the right lower shin area after getting hit by a comebacker Thursday night, according to the AP. "We'll see how he bounces back," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. Wakefield could be moved back in the rotation if he can't make his next scheduled start Tuesday at Kansas City.

Tim Wakefield left his start Thursday night in the fifth inning after being hit in the right ankle, according to the AP. Wakefield was struck on a comebacker and fell down on the mound. He got up quickly, but left the game.

The Red Sox agreed to a $4 million, one-year contract extension with Tim Wakefield on Tuesday. The 2006 salary is guaranteed as long as Wakefield doesn't finish this season on the disabled list due to an arm injury.
