Kevin Cash will probably catch Sunday and Monday, Terry Francona told the AP. Jason Varitek caught 17 innings Friday and started Saturday. This is the logical way for Francona to play it - Varitek needs a break for Sunday, and Tim Wakefield (who Varitek almost never catches) is pitching Monday.

Jason Varitek returned to the lineup on Monday after missing Sunday's game with a thumb injury, according to Boston Herald. He went 0-for-3 in his return.

Jason Varitek injured his right thumb during Saturday's game and was held out of Sunday's contest as a result. "It's painful," Varitek told the Boston Globe. "Playing my position there's always something hurting." Nonetheless, X-rays were negative, and he should be back in the mix on Monday.
