Johnny Damon needed significant treatment on his sore knee in order to play last night, and he was still having trouble running, according to the New York Daily News. He was caught on his left knee by a pitch during Thursday's game, and the joint swelled up considerably. "It's pretty sore," Damon said.

"I don't really know what happened," he said. "When I went to the field, I knew I didn't feel good. I was waiting for it to loosen up, so I waited a couple of innings. It started to feel a little better, but I was still hobbling around. ... I'm hoping it was just something that got stuck and is no big deal. I'm hoping to be in there (today), but if not, I should definitely be there (tomorrow)."

He will, however, be available to pinch-run, if needed. "I spoke to Johnny yesterday," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday. "He's not worried. He just needs to get it calmed down, so that's why he's not a defensive player for them right now." There is no timetable for when Damon will resume defensive drills.
