Brewers manager Ned Yost said Friday that he was benching Geoff Jenkins. Yost said that he would begin giving Gabe Gross and Corey Hart more playing time at the expense of Jenkins. "We've got six weeks left in the season," Yost said. "We need to find out where we're at. Neither one of those guys has had extended playing time this year." Jenkins is hitting .254 with a pitiful .393 slugging percentage this season. Yost admitted that the decision was difficult because of Jenkins' long tenure as a productive player for Milwaukee.

Manager Ned Yost dropped Geoff Jenkins, who has six hits in his last 41 at-bats, from third to seventh in the batting order on Tuesday, according to the AP. "I wanted to try to take some pressure off him," said Yost. Jenkins is hitting .247 with seven home runs and 37 RBI on the season. Corey Koskie batted third.

Geoff Jenkins may become a platoon player, only getting starts against right-handed hurlers if he continues to struggle against lefties, according to the Milwaukee website. Corey Hart would take over for Jenkins (.131-1-4 against southpaws) when lefties take the mound.

After sitting out Monday’s game with a slight concussion, Geoff Jenkins returned with a bang on Tuesday, going 4-for-4 in the Brewers’ 5-3 win. Jenkins suffered the injury colliding with teammate Prince Fielder while chasing a pop fly during Sunday's game.

"He's feeling a little better," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "He's still a little sore, still has a little head fogginess." Jenkins is day-to-day with a concussion.
