Henry, a first-round pick in 2005. Abreu, who had to waive his no-trade clause to accept the deal, is making $13.5 million this year and is owed $15.5 million next season. He has a club option for $16 million in 2008 with a $2 million buyout.

Bobby Abreu told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he didn't tell former manager and current broadcaster Larry Bowa that he needed a change of scenery. They are currently four games out of the wild card but trailing seven other teams.

Bobby Abreu has hit third in the lineup for almost his entire career, but he said Thursday that he'd be willing to hit leadoff should the Phillies want to make a switch, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. With his high OBP and ability to steal bases, he'd be a natural fit at the top of the order, though it would obviously reduce his chances to drive in runs. In the past, Abreu resisted such a move because he didn't think the team had enough power in the middle of the lineup, but he said things are different now with Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell and Aaron Rowand hitting behind him.
