Scott Rolen went 0-for-3 in a rehab start with Class-A Dunedin on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. He sat out Monday's game with flu-like symptoms, but is expected to return to the Blue Jays some time during their 10-day road trip.

Scott Rolen could be back with the Blue Jays before the end of the current road trip. "If all goes well," manager John Gibbons informs MLB.com. "As a matter of fact, that's what we're hoping." Rolen has logged three minor league rehab games as he returns from a broken right middle finger. The Blue Jays' road trip runs through May 1.

Scott Rolen suited up with Class-A Dunedin today for his first Minor League rehab appearance since the third baseman broke his right middle finger, and is one step closer to joining the Jays, according to MLB.com. Team GM J.P. Ricciardi commented that the plan was for Rolen to appear in Minor League games at third base on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to continue to test his recovering finger. Following Tuesday's appearance, Ricciardi stated the team will re-evaluate Rolen's status. The team is hoping he can make a swift return, especially following today's release of Frank Thomas.

Scott Rolen could return in about two weeks as a best-case scenario, according to the Toronto Star. Manager John Gibbons commented that he's pleased by what he's seen of Rolen during these two games in Baltimore, as he is recovering from a broken finger. Gibbons added, "I thought he looked really good. He looks ahead of where I'd expect him to be (after watching him take batting practice with the team)." Rolen will return to Florida today to continue his rehab.

Scott Rolen could be sidelined until May due to his broken right middle finger injury, according to MLB.com. Dr. Thomas Graham inserted a pin in the tip of Rolen's finger and he is scheduled to have it taken out on April 7. At that time, it is unclear how much time it will take Rolen to return to the lineup, but Rolen said Graham believed the third baseman could be out until late April or early May. Rolen added, "He gave a four-to-six week window from the time of surgery. We'll all hopefully be optimistic and cut that down as much as we can in the right way, the smart way."

Scott Rolen had surgery on Monday to insert a screw into his broken finger, this according to the AP. It will be in there for 14 days, general manager J.P. Ricciardi said. Then they will take the screw out. Then he can start moving his hand and its tolerance at that point. Initial reports pegged the time for a return as anywhere from 2-6 weeks, but given the news of this surgery, two weeks just isn't going to happen. Marc Scutaro figures to play third base until Rolen returns.

Scott Rolen broke his finger during a fielding drill Sunday, and might not be available for Opening Day, this according to ESPN. Rolen injured the finger taking grounders during a morning field drill. "It ripped his nail completely off his finger," general manager J.P. Ricciardi said. Rolen broke the bone above the top knuckle on his right middle finger. It's unclear how long he will be out. A normal recovery time of a non-displaced fracture is anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

Scott Rolen has batted second in the Jays lineup the past two games, though manager John Gibbons says that it is just so that Rolen can pick up more AB, this according to MLB.com. "We're trying to get him at least three [at-bats] a day," Gibbons said. "Right now, at this stage, five innings is his limit that we're going with. No, we're not looking at [Rolen batting second in the regular season]." Rolen had only eight HR in 392 AB last season, and the Jays need him to do a whole lot better than that this season since he will hit in a run producing slot in the order.

Scott Rolen is ready to take on the new challenge of proving that his surgically repaired shoulder is healthy enough to allow him to return to his former all-star self in Toronto this season, according to a report on the Philadelphia Enquirer. Rolen was limited to just 392 AB and eight home runs last season, but he appears fit and ready to replace the power that Troy Glaus took with him to St. Louis as the other party involved in the trade.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Cardinals and Blue Jays are going to swap third basemen, with Scott Rolen heading north and Troy Glaus to the midwest. Both players are coming off surgeries: Rolen to his right shoulder and Glaus to his left foot. The deal is pending both passing a physical, which isn't a given since both just got cut open.
