The A's signed Alan Embree to a two-year deal on Wednesday, according to the Sports Network. Terms of the contract weren't known, but the deal does include a club option for 2009. Embree, who posted a 3.27 ERA in 73 games in 2006, will pitch in middle relief for Oakland.

The Padres activated Alan Embree from the disabled list on Monday, according to the AP. Embree had been sidelined since the beginning of July with a strained groin.

The Padres placed Alan Embree on the 15-day disabled list with a strained groin. Embree was injured while trying to cover first base on Saturday.

The Padres inked Alan Embree to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training on Thursday, according to the AP. He held a 7.62 ERA in 67 games for the Red Sox and Yankees in 2005.
