Jorge Posada is going to land on the DL for the first time in his career, according to the AP. He was battling a recurring shoulder ailment that limited his throwing ability. Posada explained, "An MRI showed a strained muscle, but there is more to it than that. I am going on the DL. We have to be smart about it. It’s very disappointing. It’s the biggest disappointment in my career, probably, being on the DL and not being able to participate in games. It’s really tough. I thought it was coming along, but it’s not. It’s something that we’ve got to find out what’s really bothering me and take it from there." Yankees' manager Joe Girardi did not confirm that Posada would be headed to the DL but said that it “probably” would happen, and Posada may pay a visit to Dr. James Andrews.

It appears that Jorge Posada will avoid the DL, according to the NY Daily News. The team received encouraging news on him, as an MRI exam revealed nothing more than a strained right shoulder. Posada noted, "It's good news that it's not worse. I was worried because my shoulder is part of what I do. I had surgery in 2001 and I was worried that it was going to be the same. I'm happy that it's not." Posada stated that he expects to miss the next three or four days, although Girardi commented that he could miss a few more days than that, and added, "I really believe he'll be back in there in a week. The Royals stole four bases Tuesday off Posada, and manager Joe Girardi acknowledged that having Posada behind the plate would now be a weakness. Journeyman Chad Moeller is at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and would likely get called up should Posada need a DL stint. It sounds pretty likely that may be the route the Yankees take. We'll keep you posted.
