The Reds offered Rich Aurilia arbitration yesterday, according to the Cincinnati Post. "I think the end result is both parties felt like there's sufficient mutual interest to continue the dialogue and therefore the decision was made," said Reds general manager Dan O'Brien.

The Reds signed Rich Aurilia to a minor league deal on Monday. The 33-year-old veteran will have a chance to compete with Felipe Lopez and Ray Olmedo for the starting shortstop role in spring training. Aurilia hit just .246 between the Mariners and Padres last summer.
