| October 5, 2007 Brian Giles underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee. The operation was performed on Wednesday. He had trouble with his right knee since late April, and the amount of damage surprised the doctors. They found it hard to believe he was able to go out there every day with very little cartilage in the knee, general manager Kevin Towers tells the San Diego Union-Tribune. He's not going to be able to put much weight on the knee for a couple of months. He should be able to play in some spring training games, but the docs think he should be ready for Opening Day. |
