Braden Looper has pitched well enough lately that manager Tony LaRussa would now feel comfortable using him in late-inning situations, according to the Post-Dispatch. "I think he's close to what he is," LaRussa said. "Does that mean we would hesitate to use him? Probably not. Does it mean we'd like to keep him moving in the positive direction? Yes."

Until he proves regains his form, the Cardinals have decided not to use Braden Looper in potentially game-changing situations, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Looper did not enter the game in the eighth inning on Thursday when the score was tied, and his appearances for the time being will likely be limited to the sixth and seventh innings. Pitching coach Dave Duncan said that Looper is trying to throw too hard, and as a result his mechanics are off.
