The Angels have no interest in acquiring newly released slugger Richie Sexson, according to the OC Register. Manager Mike Sciosca said, "Richie is the type of player who needs a lot of playing time. He has a powerful swing and still has the bat speed to be productive. But our feeling is that he needs to play a lot. I don't know if we have enough at-bats for him. We already have guys on the bench who need at-bats and I don't know if Richie would be a fit."

The Seattle Times reports that Sexson and hitting coach Jeff Pentland have spent the time making major changes to the slugger's swing. "What I was thinking was, I wanted him with a fresh start," manager John McLaren explains regarding why Sexson didn't pinch-hit on Sunday. "He cleared his mind, he worked hard and tonight he's going to get that start."
