Carlos Lee underwent successful surgery on his left pinkie and was in good spirits after the 70 minute procedure was completed, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Carlos Lee has been named the NL Player of the Week, according to the AP. Lee led the NL with a .550 average (11-for-20), and a 1.100 slugging percentage, as well as a.640 on-base percentage. He tied for the league lead with 11 RBI.

Houston slugger Carlos Lee , the National League's RBI leader, left the Astros' game at Cincinnati in the third inning Saturday night with an apparent injury to his left pinky finger after getting hit by a pitch, according to the Associated Press.

Carlos Lee is having a completely dominant August, and chances are he continues that tonight. For the month, Lee is hitting .500 (15-for-30), with four home runs and 13 RBI. His slugging percentage for the month is an outrageous .967. Against tonight's starter for Cincinnati, Bronson Arroyo, Lee is hitting .357 with four extra-base hits.

The contest between the Astros and Phillies was delayed when plate umpire Jerry Crawford was struck in the head by Carlos Lee's bat, according to the AP. Lee fouled off a 2-2 pitch from Phillies' ace Cole Hamels in the first inning and his bat hit Crawford on the follow-through. Crawford took off his helmet and immediately jogged to the Astros' dugout, where trainers Dave Labossiere and Rex Jones met him on the steps. Crawford had a bloody gash on the left side of his head and Labossiere put a white towel over it before escorting Crawford into the Astros' clubhouse. His condition was not immediately known.

"You might even see a different [lineup] tomorrow," manager Cecil Cooper said. "We wasted too much time. We've got to get this thing turned around soon, because we can't continue to go on like we have been."
