The Brewers picked up the 2006 contract option of Carlos Lee on Thursday, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed. "This was not a difficult decision for us to make," GM Bob Melvin said. "Carlos filled our greatest need last year by excelling in production from the middle of our order. He is established as one of the league's top run producers and exceeded our expectations from the outset."

Hitting just .197 this month, Carlos Lee has begun working out a kink in his mechanics to try to improve his performance at the plate, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's just getting into a hitting position too late," Brewers hitting coach Butch Wynegar said. "He's in a good hitting position, but he's getting there late. The ball is too deep in on him."

Carlos Lee was out of the starting lineup for the Brewers on Sunday for what was supposed to be his first day off of the season. However, when Chris Magruder was forced to leave the game after being hit by a pitch, Lee entered in the second inning.

Carlos Lee left Friday's game in top of the second inning with a left knee contusion, according to the AP. Lee banged his knee against the wall near the left-field foul line while chasing a fly ball in the first inning. He stayed in the game, but left after walking and scoring a run in the bottom of the inning. The Brewers said Lee is day-to-day.

Carlos Lee received good news yesterday when an MRI revealed no hairline fracture in his bruised left wrist, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Carlos Lee won't have his MRI to determine whether he has a hairline fracture in his left wrist until today. He then will leave the team Tuesday to celebrate the birth of his son.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Carlos Lee left yesterday's spring game after being hit on his left wrist by a pitch. X-rays were negative, though he's scheduled to have an MRI taken to be sure there are no hairline fractures.
