He still has those side effects. The combination of the eye and the concussion ... is significant." Although nothing is set in stone, Encarnacion's baseball career is in jeopardy.

"It feels a lot better," Encarnacion said. "The rest and treatment have been good for it. I feel like I can play. We'll see." Juan Encarnacion is unlikely to play on the Cardinals' current road trip due to soreness in his knee, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Juan Encarnacion was officially a late scratch Sunday due to knee soreness. However, there are also rumors floating around that Encarnacion is not happy about sitting out the last few games in favor of Rick Ankiel, and manager Tony La Russa was peeved about the following comments Encarnacion made in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "It's something that I know at some point it will be clear what their plan is and I should give it a few more days," the outfielder said. "If they don't need my services, then maybe they can find me some other place I can be. There has to be a need for me somewhere." Expect GM Walt Jocketty to call around to try and find a taker for Encarnacion.
