Elmer Dessens has been activated Friday by the Braves two days after agreeing to terms, according to the AP.

The Braves have agreed to terms with Elmer Dessens on a Major League contract for the remainder of the 2008 season, according to the official site of the Atlanta Braves.

January 7, 2008
The Pirates inked Elmer Dessens to a minor-league deal Monday. Dessens began his career with the Bucs in 1996. He suffered through a terrible 2007 campaign, holding a combined 7.15 ERA in 34 innings for Milwaukee and Colorado. The veteran will compete for a job as the long man out of the bullpen.

Elmer Dessens has been recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to start in place of the injured Aaron Cook Thursday. Dessens held a 6.60 ERA in 12 relief appearances with the Brewers this year before being released.

The Brewers waived Elmer Dessens on Wednesday. He had been designated for assignment last week after holding a 6.60 ERA in 12 games with Milwaukee.
