Kotsay felt good enough to hit flyballs in the outfield during batting practice, and stated, "I've made a lot of progress from yesterday to today. I'll go out and do some baseball stuff to see how I feel and go from there. I think I'm moving in the right direction with this and staying away from something long-term."

The Braves have completed their trade with the A's for center fielder Mark Kotsay. Oakland will receive reliever Joey Devine and minor league pitcher Jamie Richmond in the deal. Kotsay is coming off an injury-plagued 2007 season in which he hit just .214 with one homer in 206 at-bats.
