The Mets will activate Moises Alou from the DL today, according to the NY Daily News. He has been on the DL all year after undergoing hernia surgery and also dealt with an ankle ailment. Alou will probably bat sixth in the Mets order.

Moises Alou told the New York Daily News that he'll be activated from the DL Friday. The outfielder had an MRI on his ailing ankle Monday, and the test revealed no fractures. Alou was originally on the DL because of hernia surgery.

Moises Alou has been experiencing some swelling in his ankle, and a CAT scan showed some irregularity inside the ailing ankle, according to the NY Daily News. He was then sent to the city for an MRI exam, which he took last night. The Mets will have results of the test today.

It appears the arrival of OF Moises Alou in New York, long considered a certain event to take place for the New York Mets, may no longer be so certain, according to the New York Post. The Mets have told reporters Alou is going to undergo tests on what they believe to be a fractured left ankle.

Moises Alou had his rehab interrupted last night due to a sore left ankle, accoring to the NY Post. He is recovering from hernia surgery, and the team did not specify when he will resume his rehab.

Moises Alou is very close to returning to the Mets, according to the NY Daily News. Alou, who had March 6 hernia surgery, again played seven innings in left field in an extended spring training game in Port St. Lucie on Thursday, while going 0-for-5 with a walk. GM Omar Minaya stated, "He's as close to day-to-day as can be."

Moises Alou went 3-for-3 in a minor league rehab game over the weekend, and will play again for Single-A St. Lucie today, according to MetsBlogs.com. The team reports that he could return as early as this weekend against the Braves.

Moises Alou has started swinging a bat again in the Dominican Republic, according to the NY Daily News. He is recovering from hernia surgery. Manager Randolph commented that it is possible Alou can return before the end of April, which is a timetable Alou has targeted.

Moises Alou has been cleared to ride a stationary bike and should be allowed to begin jogging next week, according to the New York Daily News. Alou still hopes to return from his hernia surgery by the end of next month, but any setback in his recovery could push his season debut into May.

Though the team will likely be without the service of 41-year-old OF Moises Alou until the first or second week or May due to a hernia operation, they don't have any plans to make a move to acquire OF depth, this according to MLB.com. "It's fair to say we'll go with someone internal right now," said GM Omar Minaya. Minaya went on to hint that the team still views Endy Chavez as their fourth OF so they may go with either Brady Clark or Angel Pagan as a starter for the first month of the season.

According to Mets GM Omar Minaya, Moises Alou will have surgery and should be on a bike roughly one week later, this according to MetsBlog.com. “hopefully.” He is expected to be back in four to six weeks, as had been reported on Wednesday.

Moises Alou will miss the start of the season for the Mets after it was learned he will need to have surgery on his groin, this according to the AP. Alou will have the surgery on Thursday and likely be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. Still a tremendous hitter, Alou usually waits until the start of the year before getting hurt, so even for him this is a bit early to be out of the lineup. With Ryan Church also dealing with the effects of a concussion, the Mets OF is suddenly very thin with Angel Pagan, Endy Chavez and Marlon Anderson now being in a position to possibly have to cover some substantial at-bats.

Moises Alou is having issues with his right groin and has been sent back to New York for testing, Newsday reports. He began having problems during Monday's game. We'll update his status when more is known.

Moises Alou doesn't want 2008 to be his last season. "The past three years I've been looking forward for the season to be over, to go home and retire," Alou said in the AP. "But now I'm looking forward to a good season, so they can ask me to back to play another year." Alou had a terrific 2007 season when he was healthy, hitting .341 with 13 homers in 328 at-bats. He's still a worthy fantasy option, just make sure you have someone that can fill in for him when he gets hurt.
