As expected, the Mets inked Moises Alou to a one-year deal on Friday worth $7.8 million, according to the AP. The deal includes a club option for 2008. "Moises Alou is one the game's top hitter," said Mets general manager Omar Minaya. "He'll add a valuable right-handed bat to our line-up." Alou is expected to start in left field for the Mets.

The Mets are close to signing Moises Alou to a one-year contract said to be worth $8-$9 million, according to the AP. The contract would also reportedly contain an option for 2009. Alou appeared in only 98 games with the Giants last season but hit 22 homers in 345 at-bats.
