Because of the injury to Reggie Sanders, Emil Brown will become the everyday rightfielder for the Royals. He will likely bat in the middle of the order.

With David DeJesus shifting to left field now that the Royals have Joey Gathright, it looks like the playing time of Emil Brown will be significantly decreased, according to the Royals website. Brown, however, could still get some semi-regular playing time at DH.

Emil Brown defeated the Royals in salary arbitration on Tuesday and will receive $1,775,000 rather than the $1.4 million the team offered, according to the AP. Brown hit .286 with 17 homers, 86 RBI and 10 steals last year.

The Kansas City Star reports that Emil Brown and the Royals are likely to go to arbiration because they can't agree on a deal. "They made an offer, and we made an offer," Brown said, "and we didn’t come to an agreement. So we’re going to arbitration." Brown is seeking $1.78 million while the Royals are offering $1.4 million.
