Frank Thomas is not in the starting lineup for the A's today. He is being replaced by Mike Sweeney who is hitting third in the batting order.

Frank Thomas isn't sweating his .198 average. He figures 2008 will be no different than 2006 or 2007, when he needed a couple months to find his groove. "The same thing happened in Toronto last year," Thomas tells MLB.com. "It took me eight or nine weeks to really get going. Now we're five, six weeks into the season and I haven't really gotten going this year, either. So that's three years in a row it's happened, but the first two, I did get it going, and this year won't be any different." Thomas ended up at .270-39-114 in 2006 and .277-26-95 last year.
