Miguel Tejada reiterated his desire to be traded on Thursday, according to the Baltimore Sun. "Next year, I want to be somewhere where they want to win," he said in an interview last night before playing in a Dominican League game. Tejada has no problems with the team's recent signings of Ramon Hernandez and Jeromy Burnitz, but "it's not what we need."

The Orioles spoke again with the representatives for Miguel Tejada yesterday and are confident that Tejada will be their starting shortstop on opening day, according to the Baltimore Sun. "We are just moving forward," said Orioles executive vice president Mike Flanagan. "From what we heard this week, we're going ahead with the fact that he is on our team." However, the Sun cited industry sources who said Tejada's reps haven't backed off of their trade request.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Miguel Tejada wants out of Baltimore. "I've been with the Orioles for two years and things haven't gone in the direction that we were expecting, so I think the best thing will be a change of scenery," Tejada said. "I've done many things with the team and I haven't seen results and the other teams are getting stronger while the Orioles have not made any signings to strengthen the club." The Boston Herald reports that Tejada would welcome a trade to the Red Sox.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Rafael Palmeiro said a syringe of vitamin B12 he received from Miguel Tejada could have caused the positive test for steroid use. However, a sample of the liquid provided to baseball investigators was found not to contain illegal substances. "They tested the stuff that Miggy had and found out it was B12 and cleared it and that's the end of story," said Beattie, the club's executive vice president for baseball operations.
