Miguel Tejada will not be traded, according to a report by FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. The Astros, Angels and Rangers all made substantial offers for Tejada, but apparently the offers were not enough to entice the Orioles into moving their All-Star shortstop.

Efforts to deal Miguel Tejada have hit a snag after the shortstop said he had no desire to move to third base for a new team, according to the Baltimore Sun. The Angels, who have reportedly offered Ervin Santana and Triple-A shortstop Erick Aybar in exchange for Tejada (an offer that was turned down by the O's), would want to move Tejada to third, as would the Rangers and Dodgers, who are also interested. The front-runners in the Tejada sweepstakes may be Houston, who has reportedly offered a package centered around Morgan Ensberg and Adam Everett.

The Orioles contend that they aren't shopping Miguel Tejada, but they are listening to offers and were apparently contacted by multiple teams Friday, according to the Baltimore Sun. Among the teams interested are the Dodgers, Angels, Astros, Tigers and Rangers. The O's reportedly would like a top-tier starter in return for Tejada.

Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo said he's received no indications that the club is looking to send Miguel Tejada away in a trade, according to the Baltimore Sun. "Unless somebody overwhelms us, I would hope that Miggy stays put," he said.

Miguel Tejada, who is nursing a hyperextended left knee, played DH for a second straight game Monday. He hopes to return to shortstop on Tuesday.

In order to rest his hyperextended knee, Miguel Tejada started at DH on Sunday and may see some more action there before returning to shortstop, according to the Baltimore Sun. "He's obviously not 100 percent by any means," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "He felt his main problem was in the field, so we'll probably have to give him a couple of days DH-ing and see if that doesn't help him out a little bit. Keep him off his feet out in the field, keep him from moving side to side."

Miguel Tejada served as the DH on Sunday instead of playing shortstop because of a sore knee, according to the AP. He went 0-for-3 with a walk. Brandon Fahey, who was just recalled from Triple-A, got the start at short.

Orioles trainer Richie Bancells said Miguel Tejada had an MRI that revealed no damage in his knee, according to the Baltimore Sun. Tejada hyperextended the joint during Friday's game and left Saturday's contest in the sixth inning due to the injury. He said it bothered him most while playing defense and that he might DH on Sunday. "I think I worry about defense," he said. "The hitting don't bother me so much. ... I don't want to keep going in there and try to go after the ball and get it worse."

Miguel Tejada left Saturday's contest against the Mariners in the sixth inning with knee soreness, according to the AP. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI before leaving.

Miguel Tejada hyperextened his left knee while trying to field a ball in the fifth inning of last night's game, according to the Baltimore Sun. He stayed in the game and said afterward that he felt more soreness in his hamstring than his knee. Tejada said he would play today if "nothing is broken back there."
April 22, 2006
Although Miguel Tejada has been walking with a noticeable limp, he has no plans to take a day off, according to the Baltimore Sun. "No, I still have one good leg," he said. "My knee is a little bit hurt, but I am OK. I am going to keep playing." Tejada has played in 936 consecutive games.

Orioles VPs Mike Flanagan and Jim Duquette met with Miguel Tejada in the Dominican Republic this week and are confident that the shortstop will join the team in February without controversy or reservation, according to the Baltimore Sun. "It was a very good meeting. I can't give the specific details, but it was three to four hours of good baseball talk," Flanagan said. "He's anxious for spring training to come, and so are we."

Saying that he regretted asking for a trade and was embarrassed by all the attention his request drew, Miguel Tejada told Orioles VP Jim Duquette yesterday that he wants to remain with the club and help it become a winner, according to the Baltimore Sun. Duquette said based on that conversation, he's abandoned his efforts to trade the shortstop.
