Jarrod Washburn is upset that the Mariners weren't able to work out a deal with the Twins, according to the Seattle Times. The lefty has a home in Minnesota and would move from a cellar dweller to a contending team. "If the rumors are accurate, it's too bad,'' he said. "It would have been ideal. It would have been perfect. It would have gotten me to a place that's contending and it's in my own damn backyard.'' One rumor had the Twins offering up Boof Bonser in return. "If that was the case, how much more do you think you're going to get? A young guy with a great arm who's cheap.''

SI's Jon Heyman is reporting that the Yankees may get Jarrod Washburn after all. The Mariners, at least according to Heyman, relented when they traded Arthur Rhodes to Florida, as the Hernandez offer had reportedly been on the table for weeks. The Yanks hope that since the M's relented on one trade, they may do so on another.

The Mariners apparently don't realize that Jarrod Washburn isn't that good. After a deal that would send the lefty to the Yankees died down, the M's asked the Rockies for outfielder Dexter Fowler and reliever Casey Weathers in exchange for Washburn, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Seattle also wanted starter Jon Niese and/or outfielder Fernando Martinez from the Mets.
