Updating a previous report, the New York Daily News is now saying that Carlos Beltran will not need microfracture surgery and that his original diagnosis of a bone bruise was correct.

Carlos Beltran could require microfracture knee surgery on his balky right knee, according to the New York Post. The surgery could jeopardize his 2009 season, and possibly even his career, were he to have it.

Carlos Beltran is visiting a specialist in Colorado Monday at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic to examine the bone bruise under his right knee, according to Newsday. That is the same facility that Alex Rodriguez underwent his hip surgery.
