Beltran stole his 11th base (in 12 attempts) of the season Monday. His 88.1 percent success rate is the highest among active players with at least 200 steals. "I don't like to get thrown out," Beltran said when told of his manager's remarks. "I like to push it when I feel I can make it to second base. If it's a 3-1 count and they tell me I have to go, I'll go. But I don't like to get thrown out when I'm on my own."

Carlos Beltran's flu-like symptoms, subsided enough by Wednesday for Beltran to return to his starting role in center field on Wednesday, this according to MLB.com. "I'm better now," Beltran said. "It's good. No problem." The team announced on Tuesday, prior to the game, that the Mets cleanup hitter was experiencing flu-like symptoms. Beltran told the team's website it was a stomach virus.

The New York Daily News reported Thursday that center fielder Carlos Beltran gave a positive review of his first game in the field since surgery to clean out both knees. Beltran played four innings and went 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI single. As for his damaged and recovering knees? The report noted, "I got tired a little bit. It’s still the same. The left side is weaker than the right side," said Beltran. "I’m not ready to play nine innings right now." Expect Beltran to get out of the gate slow, and the Mets to have some offensive woes early on this April. But as the temps rise, and some of the aging veterans on the Mets squad warm, so will their statlines.

Carlos Beltran played his first game since last season on Monday, though he only DH'd and didn't play in the field, this according to MLB.com. Beltran had surgery on both knees last October and the report stated that he felt "a little weird" and that he was still not pain free. With only about three weeks until the regular season begins we aren't exactly thrilled with Beltran's progress, but barring a setback he still figures to start in CF on opening day.

It’s just turning and stopping." Beltran had offseason surgery on both knees and said his left knee is bothering him more than his right. Carlos Beltran is suffering from bruised left triceps this morning courtesy of a Johan Santana fastball. The Mets' center fielder was hit by his new teammate during live batting practice on Sunday afternoon. Beltran told Newsday.com he would be fine, but the bruise was pretty nasty. Beltran, who is slowly recovering from offseason surgery on both knees, will not take part in today's (Monday) intrasquad scrimmage and seems to be a while away from playing games; most of the caution surrounding Beltran is due to his knee ailments.
