The Red Sox re-signed Alex Cora to a two-year contract on Friday, according to the AP. He hit .236 with one homer and 18 RBI in 96 games for the Sox last year, filling in at second and third base, and shortstop.

As expected, the Red Sox and Alex Cora have agreed to a two-year contract, according to the Boston Herald. "We just both had an understanding of what we wanted from each other," said Cora yesterday. "I'm surprised that we got it done so early but both parties agreed that it was a good situation for me and obviously a good situation for the team, too."

The Boston Herald reports that the Red Sox are close to reaching a two-year deal with Alex Cora. Cora hit .238 in 235 at-bats with the Sox in 2006.
