Alex Gonzalez is progressing slowly from his compression fracture in his left knee, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Manager Dusty Baker said, "He hit and took some groundballs. He's not moving too good."

Alex Gonzalez received bad news on Monday when an MRI revealed that he still has a compression fracture in his left knee, MLB.com reports. He has been out since early in spring training and won't be cleared to run for another two-to-four weeks.

Alex Gonzalez was able to take batting practice on Wednesday while wearing a brace on his injured left knee, this according to MLB.com. "I've come along pretty good," said Gonzalez. "I feel just a little bit of pain. It's almost gone. I'm doing a lot of stuff with my leg to get it stronger. Maybe next week I'll start jogging a little bit." Jeff Keppinger will continue to man the shortstop position until Gonzalez returns to action though there is no timetable set on that front as of this writing.

Alex Gonzalez was put on the 15-day disabled list on Monday due to a left knee injury. The move is retroactive to March 21, this according to the Sports Network. Backup Jeff Keppinger will start at shortstop until Gonzalez is healthy enough to return.

Alex Gonzalez has been cleared to begin baseball activity as the Reds approach opening day. The veteran shortstop is taking batting practice in the cage but is still a few days away from taking live hitting, this according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The Reds middle infielder is likely to begin the season on the disabled list. Gonzalez has been out since early March with a compression fracture in his left knee.
