The Baltimore Orioles suffered a troublesome loss against the Boston Red Sox this evening, falling 12-1 with a total of three hits by the entire team. Only catcher Ramon Hernandez emerged as an offensive note, going 1-for-3 with his eighth homer of the season to total one RBI and one run scored.

Ramon Hernandez could be in danger of losing his starting spot to Guillermo Quiroz. "I'm all for what's best for the team," manager Dave Trembley tells MLB.com. "I think you have to give respect to the veteran guys who have been here and have played for a long time, and I think you have to go the extra mile before you go to that measure. But once you go to that measure, I think you communicate that to all concerned parties and you move forward." Hernandez is hitting .22 and has thrown out only nine of 53 base stealers.

Ramon Hernandez missed his second straight game on Sunday due to his sore left wrist, according to the Baltimore Sun. Hernandez is concerned, and said he has been dealing with wrist pain, which increases significantly when he turns his hand while swinging a bat, for around two weeks. He tried to play through the ailment, but decided before Saturday night's game that it hurt too much to grip a bat. He said he expects to see a doctor today in Baltimore. Hernandez added, "I've got to check it out, because you know that's the hand I had surgery on in 2005."

Ramon Hernandez led the way in Baltimore's 7-4 win over the Seattle Mariners. Hernandez went 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting his first home run of the year. That brings the catcher to a batting average of .273 on the year.

Manager Dave Trembley has been raving about Ramon Hernandez, who showed up to camp in terrific shape. "He expects to have a big season and we expect that, too," Trembley said in the Baltimore Sun. Trembley added: "I asked him to come here in shape and he has. Just from the first two games that he's been here, he's got a little more bounce in his step. I think he understands that this is a big season for him." Hernandez dealt with injures and had poor production last year, but he seems primed for a bounceback campaign.

In his quest to bounce back from a disappointing season, Ramon Hernandez has shown up to camp in tremendous physical shape according to the Baltimore Sun. "I really concentrated this off-season on working out. Even when I went home, I was working out. I've been taking my vitamins and I need to help my body rebuild. You just have to keep working and hopefully you'll come in here and stay healthy." Hernandez lost about 10 pounds and he is eager to return to the 23 HR, 91 RBI form he posted in 2006 and not the disappointing player he was last season when he was limited to just nine HR and 62 RBI.
