Ricciardi said. "It relieves the pain, relieves the pressure. The doctor is really confident he'll be ready for spring training." If this surgery does correct Glaus' foot problems, he could provide solid value in drafts in 2008.

Troy Glaus will undergo surgery next week to correct a nerve problem in his left foot, sidelining him for the rest of the season, according to the Toronto Sun. "The procedure is a nerve decompression surgery," Blue Jay general manager J.P. Ricciardi said. "He should be moving around within a month and should have no problem being ready for spring training." This was an injury that has bothered Glaus since the beginning of the season. At the very least, Glaus sitting out the rest of the year will save him from having to deal with all of the HGH speculation.

Blue Jays third baseman Troy Glaus will undergo season-ending surgery next week to repair a nerve in his left foot, according to the Associated Press. "The surgery is a nerve decompression surgery," general manager J.P. Ricciardi said. "He's going to have a consultation later this week, just to kind of get ready for it, then he's going to have the surgery Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday."

According to the AP, he's been playing with plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the tissue that connects the heel to the base of the toes. Glaus, who wore new orthotics Wednesday, said the condition has led to heel and ankle soreness. Surgery will not be required, and offseason rest should cure the problem.
