Outfielder Magglio Ordonez spoke more about the injury to his right oblique muscle. He went on the DL on Sunday. "It will just take treatment and rest," Ordonez informs the MLive.com. "It will be maybe two weeks. I'll be back when I am ready." He suffered the injury when chasing a foul ball on Saturday, and he left the game two innings later. Ordonez explains the similar injuries to teammates Gary Sheffield and Brandon Inge helped him to realize that he needed to be smart about the ailment. Clete Thomas is expected to see a lot of time while Ordonez is out.

Magglio Ordonez has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a pulled right oblique muscle, according to the AP. Matt Joyce has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo to fill the open spot on the roster.

Updating and earlier report, Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez came out of Saturday night's game with the Colorado Rockies after fielding a double off the wall by Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in the third inning, this according to MLive.com. The All Star suffered a spasm in his right oblique.

Detroit outfielder Magglio Ordonez and Boston pitcher Jon Lester share AL Player of the Week honors, according to MLB.com. Ordonez hit .478 (11-23) with four doubles, three home runs and nine RBI, and posted a 1.043 slugging percentage along with a .500 on-base percentage. On May 24, he went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, six RBI, four runs scored and a walk against the Twins. On Monday, May 19, Lester became the 18th pitcher in Red Sox history to throw a no-hitter, which came against the Royals at Fenway Park. The lefty allowed two walks and struck out nine batters. Overall last week, he went 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched.

Ordonez, who will bat between Gary Sheffield and Cabrera this season, is sitting pretty to have another big time season for the Tigers, though expecting a repeat of his .363 average or 139 RBI may be stretching things a bit.

The New York Times reports Jose Canseco offered to keep Magglio Ordonez out of his upcoming book if the Detroit slugger invested in a movie project of Canseco's. Ordonez decided not to go forward with a complaint, so the FBI didn't open a formal investigation. Canseco has said that neither he nor any associate asked Ordonez for money in exchange for avoiding mention in the book. We'll see if anything comes out of this on March 31st, when Canseco's new book is set to be released.
