"It's a hard thing to determine how long he'll be out with 100 percent accuracy," Dombrowski said. He had been sidelined by stomach pain initially diagnosed as a viral infection, but it's unclear if that diagnosis was correct or whether the virus perhaps masked the pain from the hernia.

After viewing Ordonez's medical records, the Rangers have indicated that they will not attend. So far, the only solid contract Ordonez has on the table is a five-year deal from the Tigers, but it's rumored he either wants a seven-year deal from Detroit, or a short one- or two-year deal with a contender to re-establish his value.
