Orlando Hernandez threw without a boot for a second straight day on Monday, and indicated he could be throwing off the mound within a week, according to the NY Post. Hernandez said, "I try to come back in two weeks, three weeks. When I feel good, I'll be back." Hernandez said he expects to start running within the next few days as well.

Orlando Hernandez has shed the protective boot on his right foot and has been cleared to do some light running, this according to the New York Daily News. Assistant GM John Ricco said El Duque, who visited team doctors in New York on Tuesday, no longer has tenderness with the tendon that was plaguing him.

Orlando Hernandez returned to New York for an MRI Tuesday after experiencing pain in the right foot that bothered him early in spring training and which initially forced him to the disabled list, according to Metsblog.com. It had seemed like El Duque would return soon, but that's obviously up in the air now. We'll let you know what the MRI results are.

Orlando Hernandez allowed two runs on on three hits while striking out six and walking one in five inning Thursday in a rehab start for Single-A St. Lucie. He also hit a batter and tossed a wild pitch. Adam Rubin of the NY Daily News reports that his source said El Duque had impressive offspeed stuff but that his fastball lacked zip. The righty expects to throw two more minor-league games before being activated. “It’s a little tough, but I think day to day it’s geting better,” he said about the bunion on his right big toe. “I need to throw. I need to work out.” With Pedro Martinez out, the Mets could use El Duque's help. We're not sure how much he'll help your fantasy team, though.
