The catcher will play a couple games for Potomac before heading to Triple-A Columbus for a couple of more games before being activated from the disabled list sometime during the Nats' next road trip. Lo Duca is coming back from a fractured hand.

Paul Lo Duca played catch before Tuesday's game without any problems, according to MLB.com. The catcher, who hasn't played in a game since May 7 because of a fractured right hand, is hoping to be back in action right after the All-Star break, if not sooner. He will take some dry swings in the next couple days and then will go through some soft-toss drills next week. "Throwing-wise, it's fine. I was trying to get a workout in," Lo Duca said. "The hand is getting better and stronger."

Paul Lo Duca is scheduled to have surgery this morning to repair a minor meniscus tear in his left knee, but the Nationals want its doctor to see the catcher before making a final decision. GM Jim Bowden, who said in an e-mail last night that an MRI exam revealed only an abnormal meniscus - or a possible tear - and plans for surgery had not been finalized. Should surgery be necessary, Bowden said, it would be arthroscopic and Lo Duca would miss four to six weeks, meaning he should still be ready for the start of the season.
