The Cubs inked Ted Lilly to a four-year contract Wednesday worth $40 million, according to Sportsticker. The deal is still pending a physical. Lilly posted a 15-13 record with a 4.31 ERA with the Blue Jays in 2006.

The Globe and Mail reports that the Blue Jays have offered Ted Lilly a four-year deal worth between $40-$44 million. Other teams that have expressed interest in the lefty are the Yankees, Cubs, Mariners, Giants and Padres.

Ted Lilly is interested in signing with the Yankees, but the team is not ready to commit, according to the New York Post. "We have an interest but that is it, it's premature [at this point]," GM Brian Cashman said Lilly. Lilly is seeking a four-year, $36 million deal.

Ted Lilly's agent, Larry O'Brien, said the Yankees and Mets are not among the "dozen or so" teams that have contacted him about his client, though Lilly would like to hear from the New York teams, according to Newsday. O'Brien said Lilly is looking for a four-year deal with a limited no-trade clause and wants to pitch for a contender.

Ted Lilly and Blue Jays manager John Gibbons got into an altercation in a tunnel off the Toronto dugout after Lilly was removed from Monday's game in the third inning, according to the AP. It was not known whether any punches were thrown, but Gibbons later returned to the bench with a bloody nose.

Ted Lilly was scratched from his scheduled start Monday because of a stiff neck, according to the AP. Brian Tallet came out of the bullpen to make the start in place of Lilly. The Blue Jays have not said how long Lilly will be out, but it seems likely he would be able to make his next scheduled start on Saturday.

Ted Lilly felt no problems with his left shoulder a day after leaving his start against Washington after just six innings when his shoulder began to tighten up, according to the AP. Neither he nor the team thought the injury was serious and that was confirmed Thursday. "He's fine," said manager John Gibbons, adding that Lilly won't need any extra rest before his next outing.

The Toronto Sun reports that Ted Lilly was pulled from his start last night after six innings due to what the Blue Jays called a tight shoulder. "I just want to be smart about what I'm doing," Lilly said. "I felt it a little more in the sixth than I had previously. It's at the point where there was no reason to push it. (Today) should be a better indication."

"My location was better than it has been and the one thing is I was throwing the ball correctly," said Lilly. "(Pitching coach) Arnie (Arnsberg) and I were talking about all the times last year that I was real stiff on my front side (landing stiff on his right leg) and putting a lot of strain on my shoulder. (Yesterday) I felt like I was getting over my front side better and taking some of the work out of my arm."
