Not surprisingly, the Royals declined Odalis Perez's $9 million, 2008 option on Tuesday, according to the AP. Perez was paid a $1.5 million buyout, but $750,000 of that will be paid by the Dodgers. Perez posted a 5.57 ERA in 26 starts in 2007, and although he still could be overpaid this offseason, it's unlikely any team will give him more than a 1- or 2-year deal.

Odalis Perez will not pitch again this season due to his left knee injury, and he was told to continue his rehab work in the Dominican Republic according to the Kansas City Star. "They understand there's no way for me to pitch again (this season)," he said. "I know why they’re doing it. They have some kids they brought up from Triple-A, and they need to see them. They need to pitch. I understand that. I'm not mad at all." The news that Perez will not pitch again this season is hardly noteworthy to fantasy owners - unless, of course, you have a thing for pitchers with 5.57 ERAs and 1.66 WHIPs.

Odalis Perez was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a left knee sprain, according to the AP. The move is retroactive to Sunday. Zack Greinke will replace Perez in Kansas City's rotation.

Odalis Perez has been diagnosed with a strained knee ligament is expected to be placed on the disabled list before today's game. It's not clear as to when Perez will return, but club officials are already bracing for the possibility that he won't pitch again this season, according to the Kansas City Star. Zack Greinke will replace Perez in the rotation. The Royals are expected to recall outfielder Shane Costa from Triple-A Omaha to replace Perez on the roster.

Odalis Perez will make his first start Wednesday, and the Royals aren't worried about the blister problem he dealt with late in spring training, the Kansas City Star reports.
March 31, 2007
It looks like the blistered finger Odalis Perez has won't keep him from making his scheduled start on Wednesday, according to the KC Star. "He seems to be fine," manager Buddy Bell confirmed. "(Trainer) Nick Swartz said he should not miss a start."
March 19, 2007
Odalis Perez was pulled from yesterday's game due to a blistered middle finger, according to the KC Star. "Anytime a starting pitcher can’t finish," manager Buddy Bell said, "you’re concerned. But we really took him out as a precaution more than anything else. I decided that three innings was enough."
March 14, 2007
Odalis Perez threw four shutout innings in a start against Royals Minor Leaguers Tuesday, the team's official site reports. He allowed four hits, struck out five and didn't walk anyone. "He looked fine," Buddy Bell said. "His velocity was up a little bit and his command was good. That's the main thing with him, command, more than anything. He was a lot better today."
