June 15, 2008
When the Nationals placed Odalis Perez on the 15-day disabled list after Friday night's game, they could have made the move retroactive to June 4 (the day after he last pitched). That would have made him eligible to return later this week. But backdating the roster move would have prevented the club from recalling Tyler Clippard from Triple-A Columbus to make Saturday night's start. The Nationals optioned Clippard to Columbus on Monday -- and major league rules require a demoted player to remain in the minors at least 10 days before returning. Perez is nursing left shoulder soreness.

February 18, 2008
Odalis Perez is drawing interest from the Nationals according to a report on MLB.com. As it stands, if Perez where to sign with the Nats he would certainly get the chance to earn a starting spot since the team currently boasts, well perhaps that isn't the right word, a spotty top-5 of John Patterson, Shawn Hill, Jason Bergmann, John Lannan and Matt Chico. Still, be very careful with drafting Perez as he was one of the worst pitchers in the game last season (5.57 ERA, 1.66 WHIP).
