Jim Thome, who has been hampered by a tight left hamstring, was not in the starting lineup on Saturday but manager Ozzie Guillen said he would start on Sunday, according to the AP. Thome was going to get one day off this weekend and he is 12-for-37 (.324) with three home runs and two doubles off Sunday's starter Mark Redman.

Ross Gload played first base and Paul Konerko was in the DH spot for the Sox Thursday. "We don't think we will have to put him on the disabled list. His injury is in the lower part of the hamstring, which the trainers tell me is not as bad as it would be if it's higher," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "We can go a few days without him. (Ross) Gload will play more and in a few days we will have a few more players from call-ups that should help." Thome isn't sure how long he'll be out. "I'm walking a little better today, but I don't feel any different. I just have to get more treatment every day. It could be day-to-day or it could be longer. I just don't know."

Thome missed yesterday's game with a strain in his left groin. "I told him, 'We don't need you for a couple of days; we need you for three months,'" Guillen said. "If I had to make a lineup right now I would have Thome batting third," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "The reason is, Thome, he strikes out a lot, but he walks a lot. Having him over there will give Paulie an opportunity to drive in more runs because (Thome) does have a good on-base percentage."
