Dodgers' GM Ned Colletti has not ruled out Brad Penny (right shoulder inflammation) returning to the team this season as a reliever, according to the LA Daily News. Colletti said, "We could get him back in the bullpen. Who knows? Even if it does take that long to rehab, if we can get him healthy. I don't know if we have enough information right now to be saying anything definitive."

Manager Joe Torre commented that Brad Penny is likely out for the rest of the season, according to the LA Times. Penny is dealing with right shoulder inflammation and Torre said, "I can't think Penny's going to be back. Nothing anybody has said makes me say that. It's off what happened this year."

Brad Penny received the results of his latest MRI. He has increased scar tissue in the front of his right shoulder. It is impinging on his rotator cuff tendon and causing inflammation, the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Penny will rest until at least Tuesday and be re-evaluated early next week. He may not be back this season.

Manager Joe Torre doesn't expect pitcher Brad Penny to return this year. "Nothing anybody has said to me makes me say that," Torre tells the Los Angeles Daily News. "It's just (based) off what has happened this year. He did his time on the DL and did the slow process of coming back, of rehab and all that. There just seems to be something that just doesn't feel right, I guess."

Brad Penny made his way to the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation, two starts after coming off the DL with right shoulder tendinitis, according to Dodgers.com.
