Brad Penny will not return from his injured shoulder before the All-Start break, according to MLB.com. Penny had to be removed from a simulated game on Saturday as his shoulder began to bother him yet again. "He stopped himself. He felt something in the back of the shoulder," said manager Joe Torre. "He didn't do anything on that particular pitch, but all of a sudden something was weird."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Brad knew something was wrong with his right shoulder when warming up for his Saturday start against the Tigers. Penny confirmed this when he lasted only 3.2 innings in the Dodgers' 12-7 loss to the Detroit Tigers giving up seven runs on seven hits. The right-hander was immediately booked for a return flight to Los Angeles today to be examined by team physician Neal ElAttrache.
