Dr. Frank Jobe said he can't make a timeline for when Brad Penny will be able to return from a nerve irritation yet, because it will take several weeks to make an accurate diagnosis of the nerve damage, according to the LA Times. "If the bruise is on the outside of the nerve, it could take three to four weeks to recover," Jobe said. "If the bruise is on the inside, it could be a matter of months. But either way, he needs rest and must stretch out the arm with exercise."

However, the Miami Herald reports that GM Larry Beinfest has repeatedly said he has no interest in trading any of his starting pitchers. Getting Ishii back in a deal might ease the pain (only slightly) of losing Penny.
