| July 20, 2007 Gil Meche has been tiring in the middle innings of recent starts and has altered his between-starts routine in an attempt to regain stamina. "For some reason, I've just been getting tired," Meche told the Kansas City Star. "I'm losing the stuff that I have. My last two outings, I've had my best stuff in the first three innings, and it was the same scenario back to back. I just lose it in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings." As a result, Meche will scale back on throwing between starts and during warm-ups before his starts. Meche has given up 10 earned runs in 11 innings during his last two starts and has seen his ERA creep up to 3.69 for the season. |
| May 29, 2007 Gil Meche threw a bullpen session on Monday and reported no problems related to his balky back. I felt good, Meche told the Kansas City Star. I took some muscle relaxers to help out, and there were no problems. I will be able to go. Meche had to leave his previous start with tightness in his back an issue that hampered him a year ago but is on track to start on Wednesday. |
