Danny Ardoin, who is back in the majors for the first time since September 2006, has been serving as Russell Martin's backup with veteran Gary Bennett on the disabled list. Ardoin is starting this afternoon for Martin and hitting ninth.

Danny Ardoin might be named Hiroki Kuroda's personal catcher, according to MLB.com. "It's tempting. I will look at it," manager Joe Torre said. "I think just to, what I saw in Chicago and again here last night is pretty impressive."

Danny Ardoin will make his first start of 2008 tonight at Wrigley Field against the Cubs, according to MLB.com. Russell Martin will get the night off, and Ardoin will catch Hiroki Kuroda.

Veteran backup catcher Danny Ardoin, who is hitting the cover off the ball at Triple-A Las Vegas, had his contract purchased by the Dodgers today. Ardoin took the roster spot of catcher Gary Bennett, who was placed on the 15-day DL with plantar fasciitis.

The Nationals traded Danny Ardoin to the Astros Monday in exchange for minor league infielder Wade Robinson, according to the Washington Post. Ardoin may have a shot at the backup catcher job in Houston.
