Vance Wilson agreed to a two-year, $1.9 million contract extension with the Tigers on Thursday, according to the AP. The deal is worth $950,000 per year, plus $25,000 for 350 and 400 plate appearances, and $50,000 for 450 plate appearances. Ivan Rodriguez's backup is currently hitting .273 with four home runs and 15 RBI.

Vance Wilson was originally supposed to get the start behind the plate against the Royals on Thursday, but he twisted his ankle on Wednesday and was unavailable, according to the AP. Ivan Rodriguez got the start at catcher, instead.

Vance Wilson stepped on a ball yesterday and twisted his ankle, leaving his availability for today's game in doubt, according to the Detroit News. If he is ready to play, he'll start behind the plate, so Pudge Rodriguez can get a day off to rest.
