The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Phillies have reached an agreement with free agent catcher Rod Barajas. It is a one-year contract with an option for 2008. Barajas will compete with rookie Carlos Ruiz for the starting job.

The Blue Jays have reportedly made an offer to Rod Barajas, according to the Toronto Sun. "We've received an offer and I'd have to classify our discussions with Toronto as being productive," Terry Bross, an agent for Barajas said yesterday. "I'm not going to discuss what the terms were but I'd say it was competitive." The Jays also have an offer for Gregg Zaun out on the table, but apparently he wasn't too pleased with the figures.
