Felipe Lopez got a routine day off yesterday to rest, something that likely will happen regularly down the stretch to keep him fresh, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. “This is really his first time ever playing every day at the major-league level," manager Jerry Narron said. "The shortstop position is draining mentally as much as physically. We'll just try to pick our spots maybe once a week, every 10 days or something, and give him a day off."

Reds manager Jerry Narron moved Felipe Lopez into the leadoff spot and dropped Ryan Freel from leadoff to the No. 2 slot on Monday to "try to stir things up a bit," according to the AP. Lopez and Freel were a combined 0-for-33 heading into Monday's game.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Reds may be close to shaking up their lineup and/or roster, and one possibility is that Felipe Lopez could see more time at shortstop. Lopez is hitting .294 with three homers in just 34 at-bats.

Reds manager Dave Miley said he plans to have Felipe Lopez steal more bases this season, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "In the past, he's stolen some bases," Miley said. "But last year, coming off the ankle (injury, we didn't push it). We're going to up the ante this year."
