June 15, 2008
Adam Eaton turned in another solid start on Saturday despite suffering the loss. He went 6 2/3 innings and allowed just three runs. The righthander has pitched at least six innings in his last five starts and has allowed no more than three runs in each.
June 14, 2008
Philadelphia RHP Adam Eaton suffered his fourth loss of the season today as his Phillies were able to manage just four hits to score twice, coming just short in the 3-2 loss to St. Louis. Eaton lasted 6 2/3 innings to allow three runs (all earned) on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
June 3, 2008
Philadelphia RHP Adam Eaton picked up his second win of the season this evening as the Phillies put the 3-2 win on the Cincinnati Reds. Eaton pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on three hits with no walks surrendered and five strikeouts.
May 28, 2008

April 25, 2008
Adam Eaton will be seeking his first win of the season when he takes the mound against the Pirates tonight, according to MLB.com. He has four no decisions, with a 4.74 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 24.2 innings pitched.
April 14, 2008
Adam Eaton and Kyle Kendrick will swap spots in the Phillies' rotation, according to Philadelphia Daily News. The team decided they would rather keep Eaton on his normal pitching day and allow Kendrick an extra day. Pitching coach Rich Dubee noted, "It's to keep Adam on his fifth day, for one thing; he's been throwing the ball very well. Also it does give us an opportunity to pitch Adam on Sunday against the Mets."
April 5, 2008
Adam Eaton threw 95 pitches and completed 7.2 innings on Saturday as he allowed three runs in a no decision against the Reds. A very encouraging outing for Eaton who has struggled most of the time since coming to Philadelphia last year. It wasn't all roses as he allowed 10 base runners and a home run, but if you are expecting Eaton to help in the ratio categories then we have a bridge we want to sell you.
March 29, 2008
Adam Eaton has locked up a spot in the Phillies rotation, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Eaton is our fifth guy," Manuel said. "He was our fifth guy going in, and no one took it away from him." Lucky for Eaton that no one else stepped up, because he finished the spring with an ugly 7.41 ERA and allowed 30 hits in 17 innings.
March 28, 2008
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel appeared ready to go with Adam Eaton as his fifth starter until Eaton gave up seven runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings on Thursday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I don't know," Manuel said. "We'll see when we get there. We've got plenty of time. [Next] Saturday's a long way off. Hell, I might be dead by then." Eaton still should have the inside track, but we'll have to wait to see what Manuel says as next Saturday grows closer.
March 27, 2008
Adam Eaton, who gave up seven runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings, took the Thursday spring loss to the hard hitting Detroit. Eaton walked two and struck out only one Tiger hitter.
March 21, 2008
Adam Eaton, surprisingly, had a solid outing on Friday limiting the Twins to a single run in 5.1 innings. Eaton had four punchouts and didn't walk a batter on the afternoon. Eaton still has a 5.85 ERA this spring and has been dealing with a sore back, so while this was an encouraging outing we certainly wouldn't get all giddy about a guy who has been injured and posted a 6.29 ERA last season.
March 15, 2008
Adam Eaton has been battling a herniated disk in his back but returned to the mound on Saturday and did a great job as he threw three scoreless innings against Minnesota, while allowing five hits with no walks and two strikeouts. This performance will help him keep his bottom spot in the Phillies' rotation.
March 12, 2008
Adam Eaton threw a bullpen session Wednesday and is slated to pitch in a minor league game Friday, according to the AP. Eaton is dealing with a herniated disk in his back. He is the favorite to hold down the final spot in the Phils rotation, but he'll have to show he's healthy.
March 10, 2008
Adam Eaton has a herniated disk in his back according to the AP. He also has slight arthritis in his back and team trainer Scott Sheridan said,"The most important thing to know about that is it's not pressing against the nerve root, which is really what your concern is. All of his symptoms are centrally located in his back. He has long-tossed the last two days and he's going to try to throw a bullpen tomorrow." Eaton has allowed seven runs and 10 hits in two starts this spring.
March 9, 2008
Adam Eaton will skip his next start due to his ailing back, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We're giving it a couple days off," said Eaton. "The MRI results were .... slight herniated disc. And some arthritis on the right side. Which is kind of what we knew going in. But it's official." He could get back into game action on Saturday, but he's going to be cutting it close for the beginning of the season if he doesn't resume pitching relatively soon.
March 7, 2008
After being pulled from Thursday's game after two innings due to back pain, Adam Eaton admitted that he's had two sets of X-rays taken on his back over the past two weeks, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I'm still an optimist," Eaton said, "so I'd still like to go out there in the next 5 days and go out there and be healthy and ready to go. But at the same time, I'm not going to do what I did last year and go out there and pitch hurt and hurt the team." Doctors were looking for stress fractures in the vertebrae of his back but apparently didn't find any. It sounds like they may shut him down for a while to rest up.
March 6, 2008
Adam Eaton lasted only two innings on Thursday before being removed from the game due to back pain, this according to MLB.com. "Obviously, I didn't make good pitches. But at the same time, my back acted up a little bit and I didn't get good extension on anything." Given the fact that Eaton also experienced some issues in his last start, he is about ready to find him self in the trash heap of waiver wire starters. Given his hideous performance last year (6.29 ERA, 1.63 WHIP), Eaton shouldn't be touched right now.
March 1, 2008
Adam Eaton wasn't good in his first Grapefruit League outing of 2008. He surrendered three singles and a three-run home run in the first inning. Eaton completed two innings Saturday allowing five hits, three earned runs, walking three and striking out two.
February 13, 2008
Adam Eaton will have to earn his spot in the rotation this spring despite his big contract, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I'd say he definitely has the inside track, without a doubt," manager Charlie Manuel said of Eaton. "But that doesn't mean that somebody can not move him out." Eaton won 10 games but posted a ghastly 6.29 ERA in 30 starts in his first year with the Phils last season. He'll have to hold off Chad Durbin, J.D. Durbin and Travis Blackley for the No. 5 spot in the rotation. Kris Benson would also be in the mix if he signs on as expected.
